Gratitude Day 10: What do I love about where I live?

So many things! I grew up in Colorado on the front range where we lived at the base of the Rocky Mountains. Lots of pine trees, colorful aspens, and small, clear streams filled with rainbow trout.

You’d think moving to North Dakota with its wide-open, grain-filled plains, few trees (by comparison), buttes and rolling hills instead of mountains, I would find it dull.

While not as awe-inducing as Colorado, North Dakota’s beauty can be more subtle. Except for the sky. I love the North Dakota sky more than any other. From spectacular sunsets, even more spectacular clouds (and the weather that goes with them), star-filled skies in areas with no city lights to interfere, and even the auroras occasionally, it never fails to impress me.

And I’ve tried to capture them all with my camera. I would love to share them all here, but instead, here’s my Flickr page of the North Dakota sky I managed to capture over the years: https://www.flickr.com/gp/almarquardt/8ZYq1A8VLk

How about you? What do you love about where you live?
