Always the Last to Know

I have an account on a website called Writing.com. There people can create items of all types and genres for critique as well as critique others, blogs, forums of all types for almost any kind of discussion, writing contests, you name it.

I happened to be going through some of my items and realized editing has been my thing for a long time. Even after I started volunteering to edit an online flash-fiction magazine called Havok (now over six years), I still didn’t think I was all that good at it. Adequate, sure, but not a skill worth mentioning or even thinking about making money on.

Until Havok’s editor-in-chief recommended me when the Author Conservatory needed a line editor for their fourth anthology. They seemed happy enough with my edits they asked me to line-edit another anthology (which I’m working on now).

When I expressed my thanks, he told me it was an easy recommendation.

Now that I’m getting older and retirement looming closer every day, I’m gonna need something to do with my time. Perhaps offering my services as a line editor or proofreader is worth pursuing.
