A Simple Delight

Gratitude Day 16: What is a simple delight that I have been enjoying lately?

Writing these entries. It’s easy to get lost in the mundane, to spend all our time and attention on the ick in our lives and the world around us.

To forget our blessings.

Or worse, refuse to be grateful for those blessings and take them for granted–as if we somehow deserve them.

Because we don’t. None of us is guaranteed tomorrow, so why would we assume we’re guaranteed anything else?

It perhaps seems a bit defeatist to write that, but really it’s not. It’s to show that because we have no guarantees, we need to always be grateful that we have another day, another meal, another moment spent with friends and family, another day to see a sunrise and a sunset, a sliver of a moon over the horizon, frost twinkling off the grass, a child’s laugh, a loved one’s smile…
